From Nanaimo to Vancouver and the Tri-Cities, BC Pet Registry’s community work this fall brought microchip clinics, free scanning events, and partnerships that helped protect hundreds of pets. Here’s how our volunteers and local partners made a difference—and how you can join us.
BC Pet Registry Community Highlights: Fall 2025

BC SPCA Nanaimo Microchip Clinic hosted at VCA Island Animal Hospital
The fall season began with heartwarming success in Nanaimo. BC SPCA Nanaimo and VCA Island Animal Hospital hosted a microchip clinic that helped 45 families protect their pets.
A total of 35 pets received new microchips, while 10 pets were already microchipped—something their guardians didn’t know! Thanks to generous community donations, raffle proceeds, and support from VCA Island Animal Hospital, the event raised funds to help even more animals.
A huge thank-you to the staff at VCA Island Animal Hospital for donating their time to microchip these pets—this clinic wouldn’t have been possible without your support.
This clinic wasn’t just about microchipping—it was about education. Many families learned why microchip registration is just as vital as the microchip itself. When you register your pet’s microchip with the BC Pet Registry, you’re not only protecting your own pet but also supporting local programs that keep pets and families together. Registration takes only minutes, but it can prevent a lifetime of heartbreak.

Discover Dogs Microchip Scanning Training & Kick-Off
In Vancouver, the Discover Dogs pet supply store joined the BC Pet Registry community work movement by launching a microchip scanning program.
On September 19, their team completed hands-on training and now offers free microchip scans for dogs and cats. If you’re unsure about your pet’s registration, stop by 386 W 8th Ave, Vancouver, where the team can check your pet’s status on the spot.
Pet guardians who get their pets scanned receive free swag as a thank-you for being responsible owners. Discover Dogs also provides a special promo code for those who discover their microchip is unregistered. This program runs until the end of 2025—don’t wait to take part!
BC Pet Registry is deeply grateful to Discover Dogs for volunteering their time and helping build a stronger, more informed pet community. Kudos to them!

Microchip Scanning Event with BC SPCA Tri-Cities & Bosley’s
The month ended with another successful partnership—this time between BC SPCA Tri-Cities Education and Adoption Centre and Bosley’s Eagle Ridge.
This microchip scanning event demonstrated the power of collaboration across BC SPCA branches and local businesses. Together, we reached dozens of families, scanning pets and verifying their microchip registration.
Bosley’s generously offered 10% off store purchases for participants who brought their pets in, turning an educational event into a day of community connection. With more than 30 BC SPCA locations across the province, BC Pet Registry can expand events like this far and wide—something no other microchip registry can match.
Coming Soon: Bosley’s Langley Joins the Fun!
The momentum continues! Bosley’s in Langley (375-20202 66 Ave) is now preparing to join our community network. Their team is undergoing training to provide free microchip scans and share registration resources with local pet guardians. Swag and promo codes will also be available—stay tuned for more updates!
