Surrey microchip clinic: BC SPCA Surrey and King George Veterinary Team host community event

After experiencing the fear of lost and injured pets, two local owners turned to a community microchip clinic in Surrey for peace of mind. Their “close call” stories remind us how quickly things can change. More importantly, they show how a simple step like permanent identification can make all the difference. See how a local BC SPCA team and a trusted veterinary partner are helping protect pets across Surrey.

Surrey Microchip Clinic: A Community Coming Together to Protect Pets

Community safety often begins with small, meaningful actions. Recently, the BC SPCA Surrey Education and Adoption Centre hosted a microchip clinic in partnership with King George Veterinary Hospital. Together, they created a welcoming space for local pet owners. Here, families could access reliable pet identification services and learn more about protecting their pets.

At this microchip clinic in Surrey, the BC Pet Registry team was also present to support families. They answered questions about microchipping services and registration. As a result, many pet owners left feeling more confident and reassured.

Why Surrey Pet Owners Chose This Microchip Clinic

This microchip clinic felt especially meaningful because of two heartfelt stories. These Surrey pet owners attended after experiencing frightening “close calls.” Their experiences highlight how permanent pet ID can provide reassurance during uncertain moments.

First, a puppy went missing and was later found by a neighbor. However, the situation became stressful when the neighbor refused to return the puppy without a reward. While the BC Pet Registry does not resolve ownership disputes, a registered microchip provides trusted pet identification. As a result, authorities may use this information to help confirm ownership.

In another situation, a dog slipped through a backyard fence and was hit by a car. Thankfully, the owners found their pet quickly. However, the experience was deeply upsetting. Later, they realized that a registered microchip could have helped locate their pet sooner. Because of this, they chose to attend this microchip clinic in Surrey. A microchip helps ensure pets can be traced back to their families during emergencies.

A Caring Team Supporting the Surrey Community

Events like this reflect the compassion within the Surrey community. Dr. Geronimo Piano provided expert care and performed each microchipping procedure with precision. Meanwhile, Veronica, the veterinary assistant, created a calm and comforting environment. She offered treats and reassurance throughout the process. As a result, most pets stayed relaxed and barely noticed the procedure.

We also extend our sincere thanks to Layla and Jerzhel from the BC SPCA Surrey team. They organized the event with care and attention. In addition, King George Veterinary Hospital continues to support important initiatives like our BC SPCA spay and neuter programs. Moreover, their involvement in this microchip clinic reflects a strong commitment to animal welfare.

Building a Stronger Community Through Microchipping Services

During the event, the veterinary team learned that the BC SPCA supplies microchips directly to clinics. By making this change, clinics receive one-on-one help and ongoing support for the transition. More importantly, these funds go directly toward BC SPCA’s animal rescue efforts and future community programs. Therefore, each microchip clinic helps expand access to essential services for pet owners.

These programs also reduce financial barriers for families. As a result, more people can access permanent pet ID. In turn, more pets stay protected. When communities come together, everyone benefits—especially the pets who rely on us.
