In just two hours, the BC SPCA Kelowna and City Centre Veterinary Clinic teamed up to microchip ten pets, connect pet parents with vital resources, and strengthen community ties. Read how the BC Pet Registry makes microchipping accessible—and why it matters to Kelowna pet owners.
Microchip Clinic in Kelowna Helps Pet Owners and Builds Community

A recent microchip clinic in Kelowna showed just how impactful two hours of community-driven care can be. Hosted by BC SPCA Kelowna and City Centre Veterinary Clinic, this event helped ten pets get permanently identified while strengthening vital local partnerships.
Twelve pets visited the clinic—six cats and six dogs. To the guardian’s surprise, one cat and one dog were already microchipped, so we provided them with registry details. The remaining ten pets—five cats and five dogs— received microchips on-site. Each microchip represents more than just a number. It’s a lifeline that reconnects lost pets with loving homes.
A Heartfelt Thanks to Our Partners

We’re grateful to City Centre Veterinary Clinic for volunteering their time and space for this event. A big shoutout to veterinarians Dr. Kim Crisanti and Dr. David Seefeldt, and to technicians Allison Jones and Danielle Valentino for their incredible support and dedication. Their team also took a moment to educate a local couple with two unneutered dogs about the long-term benefits of neutering. BC SPCA Kelowna helped coordinate the event, and the BC Pet Registry manager was on-site to support the initiative.

“The microchip clinic went amazing – we had a great team of veterinarian staff that were so attentive and kind at City Centre. I was very happy to be a part of the BC SPCA side of the team in keeping the paperwork flowing and spoiling all the animals after they had their treatment done!”
— Carlee, Animal Care Attendant, BC SPCA Kelowna
Community support showed up in many ways. Pet guardians brought bags of dog food as well as donations, and others walked away with resources—like our low-income spay/neuter program application.
“Every conversation, every microchip, and every form handed out helps us build a stronger, more informed pet community.” — says Mary Whittaker, Animal Care Supervisor, BC SPCA Kelowna

Why BC Pet Registry Makes a Difference
Choosing BC Pet Registry is about more than just protecting your pet. We’re different from other registries. As part of the BC SPCA, we’re the only nonprofit registry in Canada focused on achieving social change. That means your registration helps support education, lower-cost IDs, and local outreach—like this very clinic.
When you support BC Pet Registry, you also support your neighbors, shelters, and the thousands of animals that benefit from our community-first approach. Microchipping is the first step—but registration is the key that unlocks its power.
